Leaving Mumbai to pursue his dream of owning a restaurant in the Caribbean, Vikas Pariani opened Indian Summer after visiting Nevis and falling in love with its verdant landscapes and intoxicating island views. Having already made his mark in the restaurant industry with successful eateries on both St. Maarten and St. Kitts, Vikas (or Vik as he is known to his patrons) settled on St. Kitts’ sister island and brought with him the exotic aromas of North Indian cuisine.
The only Indian restaurant in Nevis, Indian Summer is situated within the unassuming Nelson Spring Business Complex and offers a wide range of authentic Indian dishes. From the tandoori-fired flat breads dripping in butter and the sumptuous samosa chaats, to the luxurious murgh makhani and mango lassi (that a fellow diner implored me to try on hearing it was my first time to the restaurant), bold flavors abound.
Quick fire questions with owner Vik
What would you recommend to first-time diners?
Vik says, “Our lamb curries are my favorite. Over the last few months, I’ve spent a lot of time in the kitchen perfecting the recipe and we’ve received rave reviews from our regular diners. You should also try our Grilled Platter Sampler and tandoori-fired breads, both superb.”
Tell me something interesting about yourself:
“I speak fluent French.”
What is your favorite place or activity on Nevis?
“There’s something magical about the Golden Rock Inn. The heritage plantation architecture and views of Nevis Peak are sublime.”
